Niacinamide
Derived from vitamin B3, niacinamide is an active ingredient with many benefits. Stimulating the formation of lipids and ceramides, essential for the protective function of the skin, it repairs and strengthens the skin barrier. Its antioxidant properties protect the skin from free radicals and thus prevent premature skin aging. Having a sebum-regulating activity, it will be particularly appreciated by oily skin and/or skin with dilated pores. Also inhibiting the synthesis of melanin, it is an ideal ingredient in an anti-spot routine.
Tranexamic acid
Derived from the amino acid lysine, tranexamic acid inhibits the production of melanin and reduces hyperpigmentation spots. It is a very interesting active ingredient when it supports other anti-spot active ingredients such as niacinamide, vitamin C or licorice extract.
Some studies also show an improvement in rosacea symptoms, due to its action of strengthening the skin barrier. Visible results on the skin are obtained after daily use for 8 to 12 weeks.
Alpha Arbutin
A rising star among anti-blemish active ingredients, alpha arbutin is a derivative of hydroquinone. A molecule contained in the leaves or bark of certain plants (cranberry, blueberry, etc.), it has depigmenting properties without any irritant effect.
By blocking the synthesis of melanin, it prevents the appearance of brown spots.
Centella Asiatica
Centella Asiatica, or tiger grass, is a legendary plant in Asia known for its soothing, healing and restorative properties. It is also said to be the secret of some Chinese people, including Li Ching-Yu who is said to have lived over 200 years because he consumed Centella Asiatica daily, in infusion or salad. Scientific studies have indeed demonstrated its ability to act on the system responsible for the production of collagen but also strong antioxidant properties.
Mugwort
Often found under the names "artemisia" or "mugwort" (in English) in cosmetics, mugwort (or mugworts, because there are several varieties) is a medicinal herb used in Korean/Asian culture for hundreds of years. In cosmetics, mugwort is mainly used for its soothing properties, it helps calm skin rashes, itching and irritation. But it has many other benefits. It is indeed credited with antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory properties and it also has an antioxidant effect, for a preventive anti-aging action on a daily basis.
Betaine salicylate
A combination of salicylic acid and betaine, it is usually obtained during the processing of beet sugar. Betaine salicylate is particularly recommended for sensitive skin wanting a gentle exfoliation because it combines the keratolytic properties of salicylic acid with the soothing and rebalancing properties of betaine.
Hyaluronic acid
A molecule naturally present in the body, hyaluronic acid captures and retains water within the tissues and thus prevents dehydration which causes the appearance of fine lines on the skin and a feeling of tightness throughout the day.
As its production decreases with age, hyaluronic acid is welcome in an anti-aging routine, in order to prevent skin aging. There are several forms of hyaluronic acid, with different molecular weights. The lower the molecular weight, the deeper the molecule will be able to penetrate the skin tissues.
Ceramides
Ceramides are a family of lipids (fats).
Naturally present in our tissues. They contribute to the good health of the epidermis by forming a kind of cement between the skin cells and are therefore essential for a healthy skin barrier. They hydrate and fight against dehydration by limiting insensible water loss and also protect the skin from external aggressions.
Panthenol
Also known as provitamin B5, panthenol is mainly used in skin care for its moisturizing and soothing properties. An ally of dry skin, it strengthens the hydrolipidic film, reduces insensible water loss and thus limits dehydration.
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it quickly calms redness and feelings of discomfort such as itching.
